The Uruguayan icon Luis Suarez scored three goals inside the first half of his first game for his new Brazilian club.

After 16 impressive seasons in Europe and a short spell with former club Nacional, popular striker Luis Suarez has just started his career with Brazilian side Gremio. The soon-to-be 36-year-old made his debut for his new club on Tuesday in their showdown against Sao Luiz in the Recopa Gaucha Super Cup and enjoyed an impressive first cameo for the club.

The Uruguayan legend tormented the opposition in this match and found the back of the net not once, not twice but thrice! In fact, the former Barcelona superstar scored a hat-trick in just 38 minutes in his debut game.

Furthermore, his three goals, including a superb lob over the keeper in the 5th minute and a beautiful volley shortly before half-time, led his team to a 4-1 victory, thus clinching the title.

Suarez, who joined Rei de Copas on a free transfer on a two-year deal, was finally subbed off in the second half and received a rousing response at the Arena Gremio.

Speaking after the game, Suarez admitted that this could be the best debut game of his career. He has previously scored in his first game for a new club, finishing with two goals at Atletico Madrid.

Additionally, Luiz has also scored a first-half hat-trick, scoring against Norwich during his days at Liverpool. However, never before had he scored three goals in the first half of a debut.

Gremio are currently in Brasileiro after gaining promotion to Brazil's top-flight league late last year. However, the upcoming campaign does not continue until April, meaning Suarez's man-of-the-match display could be a taste of what is yet to come.
